Special Committees

Temporally limited in time, thematically focused

According to Article 10 Para. 2 of the States Parliament’s rules of procedure, the Parliament can establish further committees, this includes Sonderausschüsse (special committees). The term „Sonderausschuss “is not mentioned in the rules of procedure nor in the constitution of Lower Saxony, yet is to be found in the delegates' law. In comparison to the standing committees — as for instance the committee on internal affairs — special committees are established for a limited duration and dealing with a very specific topic. On the contrary, standing committees like the committee on internal affairs are active for an entire legislative period and dealing with much more comprehensive topics.

The State Parliament does not have a special committee in action at present.
